About the Department

  • Department is established in the year of 2004.
  • Department has grown significantly by spreading academic activities in offering Programs at Under Graduate level as well as Post Graduate level with the support of Principal, Directors and Management.
  • Department admits 240 students for Under Graduate level and 42 for Post Graduate level.
  • Department has motivated and well qualified faculty including 3 professors providing good academic insights.
  • Department has excellent lab facilities including CAD/CAM Lab with CNC Machines to provide knowledge on practical applications through various experiments.
  • Extensive training is given to all II, III & IV year students in SOLID WORKS (Licensed Version) in addition to the regular curriculum.
  • We relate with reputed industries in providing internships, minor projects, major projects, industrial tours, placements, consultancy works and guest lectures. Industries include Pennar Industries, ThyssenKrupp Industries, CMET (Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology), CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology), ECIL (Electronics Corporation of India Limited), BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited), etc.
  • We signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with KRIKAMIT Engg. Pvt. Ltd., and 8 reputed companies are in progress.
  • We offer NPTEL lecture classes, which is an addition to regular academics.
  • The Department encourages students to become a member Professional Chapters like ASME, IEI and ISTE and Technical Clubs like MECHARRIORS and MARK (Mecharriors Automobile & Robotics Klub).
  • The objective of the Department is to impart the technical, soft skills and basic aptitude, which helps to develop the leadership qualities among the students.
  • Department provides separate library facility with more than 500 volumes with access to e-journals.

Head of the Department


Dr. R. VENKAT REDDY

Dr. R. VENKAT REDDY is an eminent Professor and Head of the Department. He has graduated in B.E from Marathwada University, M.S, did his M.Tech (Production Engineering) from JNTUH. He awarded Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has a wide exposure in industry for 7 years and has an experience of 18 years in teaching, published more than 20 papers in international and national journals and conferences. He is one of the most dynamic and inspiring faculties in the department.

He encourages students to participate many academic and extracurricular activities. He has guided more than 50 students in doing project under UG and PG level and presently guiding one Ph.D scholar under JNTUH. He has attended and organized various conferences and workshops and also given more than 25 guest lecturers in various Engineering colleges. He is an editor in BEIESP, international journal. He is also a life member of ISTE, IIPE, Red Cross society and other societies. He is an expertise in establishing of laboratories. His major research areas are metal forming.

The Engineering graduates with good fundamentals have tremendous employment opportunities in core companies like BHEL, HAL, BDL VSP, ONGC, Mahindra& Mahindra etc., and Mechanical Engineering related software companies like Tech Mahindra, Cyient etc. Besides jobs the students from the institute are getting higher education all over the world. The students should concentrate on conceptual learning and conduct laboratory practicals effectively, so that they can face any challenges once they completed course.

ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach. ASME conducted an E-Fest Asia Pacific-2017 from Feb 28th to March 8th, at LNMIIT University, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Few of our students secured 1st and 2nd places in various events conducted.

MARK (Mecharriors for Automobile and Robotics Klub) is an organization found by the students of Department of Mechanical Engineering of Anurag Group of Institutions. The club is in existance since 2014, Mr. K. Srinivas Chalapathi and Mr. Md. Sikindar Baba are leading the team and successfully completed many projects.

The club conducts the activities and projects which include “RC–Car”, ”Solar Energy”, ”RC-Air Craft” and ”RC- Hovercraft”. Planning, executing and improvements/suggestions are the process followed for successful completion of projects. Many other activities are also been carried out by the club.

One of the workshops conducted on 13th and 14th September 2014 is “HAPTICS” in which over 1200 students took part to share and gain the knowledge about robotics function and automobiles. A two-day workshop was conducted with an aim to make a robotic arm and make it work through the usage of sensors, motors, circuit boards and by coding. During the first day, students were provided with kits and made them assemble the parts. On the second day, students were taught with coding and made them to install codex to circuit board. After the work shop students were provided with participation certificates.

Alumni Association

The main objective of Alumni Association is to act as a bridge between AGI and Alumni and to act as channel through which the Alumni can guide the students.

Our Alumni which is spread in various sectors both in technical & management Companies are working in different positions in the best companies like Hyundai Motors R & D, TCS, INFOSYS, Cyient (Infotech), Pennar Industries, Bosch, L&T Ltd, etc.

Total number of alumni registrations till date are around 460.

Alumni meeting will be organized every year and different views in the advancement of Mechanical engineering will be shared across the alumni and the present students through interactions between them.

Some of the alumni are also called for giving their views about the career planning and future aspects for Mechanical Engineering students.
