Biography

Received a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from Bangalore University in 1989, a Master of Engineering (Machine Design) from Bangalore University in 1992 and a PhD in  Advanced Composites from Jawaharlal Technological University, Kakinada in 2014. Initial academic appointment was at Karnataka Regional Engineering College, (Now known as NIT) Surathkal, Mangalore. Later on, worked at the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in the
year 1996 as Senior Project Officer. Shifted to Industries and served in various capacities both in Manufacturing and Software sectors. Again, returned to academics in 2002 and served Koneru Laxmaiah College of Engineering, Vijayawada. Went abroad in 2003, to serve the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Adama University, Nazareth. Returned to India in the year 2009 and served as Academician in various colleges in various capacities and is a Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education.

Teaching Interests

S. Madhu has taught undergraduate classes in Engineering Graphics, Strength of Materials, Metallurgy and Materials Science, Theory of Machines and Design of Machine Members. For post graduate students he taught Advanced Strength of Materials, Design Optimization.

  • Delivered Invited lecture on “Response of Hybrid Composites under Dynamic Loading”, March 21, 2009 at National Workshop on Advanced Composites and Nanomaterials, Dept of Mechanical Engineering, University College of Engineering, JNTU, Kakinada.
  • In 2006, Earned a Project worth $20,000 from the World Bank through Developmental Innovation Fund (DIF) to establish advanced Material Testing Laboratory in the Manufacturing Technology Department of Adama University, Nazareth, Ethiopia.
