Why University Status Matters

When you start shortlisting engineering colleges in Telangana, you'll notice two kinds of institutions: private universities and colleges affiliated to JNTU-Hyderabad. The labels get used loosely, and the difference isn't really about prestige — it's about who runs the academics. It's worth understanding before you choose, because it shapes your curriculum, your degree, and how quickly a course can change with the industry.

Who awards your degree

At a JNTUH-affiliated college, JNTU-Hyderabad sets the syllabus and awards the degree; the college teaches to that shared curriculum. A private university — Anurag is one — is degree-granting in its own right: it designs its own curriculum and awards its own degree, within the UGC framework and a state Private Universities Act.

Who decides what you're taught

This is the practical difference. An affiliated college shares its syllabus with dozens of colleges, and changes to it move at the pace of the affiliating university.
