Anurag University NSS Cell, Conducted Anti-Ragging, Anti-Drug, Women Safety and Road Safety Awareness Programme on 06-08-2026

Anurag University, Hyderabad, organized a large-scale Anti-Ragging, Anti-Drug, Women Safety and Road Safety Awareness Programme on August 6th, 2026 with the objective of promoting a safe, disciplined, and healthy campus environment while encouraging students to become responsible citizens. The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 2,500 students, including NSS volunteers and NCC cadets, making it one of the largest awareness initiatives conducted by the University.

The programme was graced by distinguished dignitaries from the police department, including Smt. Ainaparthi Laxmi, DCP (Road Safety), Shri P. Seetaram, SP, Eagle Force, Shri Sreenivas, Inspector, Eagle Force, and Shri Jagannadh, SHO, Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station.

The event was attended by the university leadership comprising Dr. V. Vijaya Kumar, Dean, School of Engineering, Dr. K. S. Chalapathi, Associate Dean, School of Engineering, Dr. V. Srinivas Rao, Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. M. Srinivas Rao, Director, Directorate of Admissions, Col. R. Venkatesan (Retd.), Chief Security Officer, Dr. C. Mallesha,Associate Director, Social Learning,Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, along with Deans, Heads of Departments, NCC Officers, NSS Trainers, faculty members, and students.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. M. Srinivas Rao emphasized that a right mindset leads to the right future, encouraging students to make informed choices, uphold discipline, and build a successful career through positive thinking and responsible behaviour.

Col. R. Venkatesan (Retd.) highlighted the significant role of youth in nation-building and urged students to actively contribute towards creating a stronger, safer, and more responsible India through discipline, service, and leadership.

Delivering the keynote address, DCP Smt. Ainaparthi Laxmi spoke extensively on the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus and creating an environment of mutual respect among students. She also stressed the need to strictly follow road safety regulations, adopt safe driving practices, and become responsible road users.

SP Shri P. Seetaram and Inspector Shri Sreenivas from Eagle Force sensitized students about the devastating consequences of drug abuse. They encouraged the youth to stay away from narcotic substances, value their lives, respect their families, and become ambassadors in spreading awareness against drug addiction within society.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by students to reject drugs, oppose ragging, follow traffic rules, and work towards building a safe, healthy, and responsible society.

The awareness programme reinforced the University’s commitment to holistic student development by educating young minds about the dangers of drug abuse, the legal and social consequences of ragging, and the importance of road safety. Such initiatives play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens, fostering a secure campus culture, and empowering students to contribute positively to society and the nation.
