Prevention of Caste-based Discrimination Committee (PCDC)
The Prevention of Caste-based Discrimination Committee (PCDC) at Anurag University is a critical body established to uphold the principles of equality and justice within the university community. Its purpose is to prevent and address any form of discrimination based on caste, locality, social or economic background, or gender, in alignment with the guidelines provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The PCDC’s responsibilities are structured to ensure a comprehensive approach to tackling discrimination. These include understanding and implementing UGC guidelines, handling complaints effectively, and ensuring that actions are taken within a specified timeframe. The committee is composed of members from various backgrounds, including faculty and student representatives, to ensure a broad perspective in addressing issues.

The process for submitting complaints is straightforward, requiring affected individuals to provide a written complaint with sufficient details about the alleged discriminatory act. This is submitted to the Chairman or Secretary of the PCDC, who then initiates a preliminary fact-finding process. The committee conducts thorough investigations and provides recommendations to the Registrar, who has the authority to make final decisions or form an Enquiry Committee for further investigation if needed.

OMBUDSPERSON
The establishment of the Student Grievance Committee and the role of the Ombudsperson are in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Ombudsperson, a key figure in this framework, guarantees that the committee’s proceedings align with the UGC’s stipulations, safeguarding students’ rights and fostering a conducive academic environment. As per section 6(i) of the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulation, 2023, vide notification dated 11th April 2023, Anurag University has nominated the Ombudsperson for the Students Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC). Anti-Ragging Committee
Anurag University enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, strictly prohibiting it both
inside and outside the university campus. The university adheres to guidelines on ragging issued
by the Honorable Supreme Court of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Definition of Ragging
Supreme Court of India: Ragging constitutes: "Any disorderly conduct whether by words
spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness
to any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause
annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher
or a junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or
embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student."
UGC (3rd Amendment, 29th June 2016): Includes: "Any act of physical or mental abuse
(including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the
ground of color, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual
orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of
residence, or economic background."

Internal Complaints Committee
Anurag University is committed to creating and maintaining a community in which students and
employees can work together in an environment free of violence, harassment, exploitation,
intimidation and stress. This includes all forms of gender violence, sexual harassment, and
discrimination on the basis of sex/gender.
With regard to the Supreme Court Judgment and guidelines issued in 1997 to provide for the
effective enforcement of the basic human right of gender equality and guarantee against sexual
harassment and abuse, more particularly against sexual harassment at workplaces, the University
Grants Commission (UGC) has issued circulars since 1998 to all universities, advising them to
establish a permanent cell and a committee to develop guidelines to combat sexual harassment,
violence against women, and ragging at universities and colleges.
Responsibilities of the Committee
- Preventing Sexual Harassment: Establishing and promoting policies to prevent sexual harassment and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Addressing Complaints: Handling complaints of sexual harassment promptly and confidentially, providing support to the complainant, and ensuring a fair and impartial investigation.
- Raising Awareness: Conducting awareness programs, workshops, and training sessions to educate students and staff about sexual harassment, their rights, and the resources available to them.
- Enforcing Policies: Ensuring strict adherence to university policies and legal guidelines regarding sexual harassment, and taking appropriate disciplinary action against offenders.
By establishing this committee, Anurag University reaffirms its commitment to upholding the
principles of gender equality and providing a safe, supportive atmosphere for all its members.

Anti-Drug Committee
The Anti-Drugs committee of the Anurag University has been constituted to ensure a drug-free campus by imposing a total ban on the possession or consumption or use of drugs and alcohol by students of the University, within or outside the campus/hostels. The duties of the anti-drugs committee to create awareness amongst students against drug abuse. To ensure that the University premises and surroundings are maintained free of drugs.
