1 Chemical Reaction Engineering Chemical reaction engineering involves the selection, sizing, design, operation, and troubleshooting of chemical reactors. Chemical reactors are used to convert lower value reactants into higher value commodities are used throughout the world to produce polymers, plastics, fuel, food, paints, chemical commodities, and the like. At CRE Laboratory students learn to determine reaction kinetics, reactor troubleshooting, sizing and safe operation using batch reactors, a plug flow reactor, a continuously stirred tank reactor, tubular reactor, and the batch reactor.
2 Process Dynamic &Control Lab Process dynamics and control Lab is setup to understand the basic principles involved in chemical process control industries. Students study different type of processes without controller to understand their dynamics, process connected in series in interacting and non-interacting mode, study of I/P and P/I converter and flapper nozzle system. They also understand the response of the controller in presence of feedback controllers, i.e. pressure control trainer, temperature control trainer
3 Mass Transfer Operations Laboratory The purpose of this lab is to introduce the undergraduate students with the most important separation equipment’s in the process industry, and provide a hands-on training of the proper operation of these units. This helps in not only understanding the theoretical fundamentals of the subject but also helps to visualize its real-world applications in the process industry.
4 Fluid Mechanics Laboratory The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory covers practical aspects of fluid flow for both compressible and in-compressible fluids and its properties. It features the following equipment: , Bernoulli’s apparatus, Osborne Reynolds Demonstration unit, Multi Pump Test Rig, Fluid Friction Measurement unit, Fixed and Fluidized Bed Equipment, centrifugal fan and centrifugal pump .
5 Mechanical Unit Operations Laboratory Mechanical Operation Lab provides chemical engineering students the opportunity to observe, analyze and apply their engineering knowledge and training to the operation of equipment and processes commonly found in many chemical industries like Rotary drum filtration, Froth filtration, Centrifugal pump characteristics, Forced draft tray dryer, Vacuum notch filter, Ball mill and jaw crusher.
6 Heat Transfer Laboratory Heat Transfer Lab is setup to understand the basic principles of heat transfer operation. Learning outcomes of the labs includes friction in pipelines and fittings, flow through packed beds and fluidized beds, diffusion coefficient, Gas absorption, different types of heat exchanger and mass transfer with chemical reaction.
7 Simulation Laboratory The course will help students to write programs for chemical engineering problems in various basic as well as advanced programming software such as C/C++, Sci LAB, Python etc. Students will solve problems using various numerical methods for chemical engineering subject which they have learnt so far. Students will get an opportunity to revise chemical engineering basics along with developing software skills.
8 Chemical Technology Laboratory Chemical technology lab provides practical knowledge on analysis of minerals like iron ore, copper ore etc. It also emphasis on analysis of water, redox titrations, complexometric titrations which are helpful in R&D labs, wastewater treatment plants etc. Students can experience preparation of organic compounds like nitro-benzene, meta dinitro-benzene, aniline etc. Apart from this, this lab also focuses on instrumental analysis which plays a key role in quality control of chemical industries.
